My Ideal Morning

Summer is slowly coming to an end. Do you feel motivated? Do you feel upset? As classes start to approach those in college, university, high school and even middle school. Different emotions arise. What thoughts do the start of a new school year arise in your mind?

My name is Simon, I am a part of a Dissociative Identity Disorder system that is professionally diagnosed. As our long term host went dormant a year ago, I have worked towards improving our lifestyle. From raising the GPA from 1.9 to 3.0 within a year, I have gained confidence that I will be able to make it through this year. This year will be different, it will be a challenge. With the previous host, one who lived most of the daily life, slept through most classes and barely passed the first years. I have worked to turn it around, I use my blogs as a way to express myself and inspire others who wish to turn their education around. Those who maybe take it for granted, those who also struggle with mental health. I wish to let them know that they are not alone and that one can accomplish their goals if they focus. Now, I get into the main portion of this blog.

As the Summer comes to an end, I thought I would share my Ideal Morning Routine during the school year. I will put in parts that I followed last year. I will also put in ideas that I want to improve on for this coming year. The reason I call this an Ideal Morning routine is due to the fact that I did not and will not always follow this. Everyone has days where they fall off track. My goal will be to do this everyday, however I know sometimes I will sleep in. I may go to bed a little later because of work or emergency matters. Life gets in the way, discipline will lack at times.

Morning:

0520

The time I like to be awake is around 0520. This was the time I usually woke up during classes last year. It allowed me time to do what I needed. Either to shower or to get a study session in.  To this day, I still struggle with sticking to a morning routine. I prefer to just get out of bed, make it and sit at my desk. However, I know I need to do some hygiene and self care in the morning. To start off, my ideal Morning Routine:

  • Wake up and Make bed
  • Shower (If needed, sometimes done the night before if there is no work)
  • Change Clothing

  • Breakfast

  • Brush Teeth/Wash Face

  • Plan Morning

I will usually plan my morning then. Looking at my bullet journal. I either study, work on a spread, stretch, or read. It often just depends, which is why I have a difficult time making a concrete morning.

Classes

0740-1440

Classes last most of the day. During this I am using all of my time to get as much done. If we have free time in class, I will be using it for other classes or to study. Sometimes I may take a little break but I like to avoid that because I have a hard time getting back on track then. I usually dislike texting or being on my phone during classes. Recently making more friends has made it difficult for me to put my phone down. However, they completely understand when I do not reply for a while as I may become hyper fixated on a project or idea. Or if I do not reply due to going from school to work. Which I often do. I usually try to read during lunch or on the bus back home. The next section will be made a little differently.

Work

1600/1700

I will usually have work at 1600 or 1700. I plan to talk to work about my schedule as I started to get extremely drained last year when I started full time school and work. During the weekdays you do not get home until 2200-2230. It depends, as I work in a restaurant. Sometimes I leave sooner, only if I am not scheduled to close. However it is usually just an hour earlier. After work I go home and I usually change and make sure my bag is read for the next day. I move items from my work bag to my school bag (Wallet and book being the main thing). I will need to show it again, as I adore my bag.

I was speaking to a few people (one of the Managers and our Grandmother), they shared with me that it is quite normal for people to have a hard time resting just right after work. I already do not rest for the body due to insomnia and the inability to sleep. I often try to calm down the body and then fade back into the mind and let the body run on auto pilot until the morning. But even if we are tired it takes so long for us to wind down after being in a chaotic atmosphere. The adrenaline we had and everything just slowly leaves us. We often do not sleep until midnight, which leads to about 5 hours of sleep every night. Another issue is due to not being able to talk to people I care for, I want to do it then and that leads to us staying late. I know I will just have to keep in mind that I am allowed to focus on myself and find time that is open for my friends and loved ones. So I can stay on top of my health.

After Classes

1510

I usually get home by this time. Due to the virus last year, I did not have the option to go to the library to study. So, I made due with a work space at home. For those who have read my blogs or follow my Instagram. You have seen how my workplace has evolved and how I have used tips from others to make my workplace as pleasant as possible. Studying by a window, plants, stationary, sticky notes etc. During school last year, I would come home and study between 2-4 hours. I would usually do 50 minute blocks and a 10 minute break. That worked excellent for me and allowed me to not feel drained. There is a video I watched recently about finding the study time that works best for you. I believe I may review it or share it with you all.

Usually it is around 1900 that I am done studying. What I like to do then is either catch up with loved ones or work on my projects. I know I will be working towards continuing my blogs and social media. I will usually spend the time reading, working on any daily goals I have planned. I try to avoid napping but it is sometimes inevitable. We usually try to sleep earlier, but usually it fails.

My schedule is usually pretty full. Either with work or no work. I have to calculate what days to focus on what classes the most. If I know something is due and I know I have work for most of those nights, I will spend most of my class time working on it. During Lunch, during my morning study session or bus ride. It just depends, I do my best to not waste a minute. If I know I will have time after school due to no work, I make sure to find ways to take care of myself. I will do productive type hobbies that allow me to recharge. Such as reading and drawing, watching education videos and documentaries also help out a lot. I think that will be all for today. What is your ideal morning?

Let us not dream anymore, let us make our ideas reality. I plan to do that. Discipline is needed, not just motivation. Motivation runs out quickly, find what drives you.

That is all

Farewell
